Dear Jane – start of a long project
I have been planning to start a Dear Jane quilt for many years now, actually since we opened the shop, so 5 years! I bought the book a few years ago, the software last year, the background fabric last month and now I get to buy the fabric! I have sort of been collecting for some time now, so I have a large variety of fabrics already. I want to create a modern Dear Jane, but still using the lovely browns, especially chocolates. I decided that i would also do the right thing and wash my fabric! I am actually quite shocked that I did wash them, I am usually just too excited with new fabrics to wait till they are dry. I have to use them straight away. Once I hung all the fabrics on my clothes drying rack, they looked so lovely that I had to take a photo. Does anyone recognise some of the fabrics I have gathered so far? I am getting very excited about starting this quilt, just need to find a quiet time so I can spend some time planning the colour positions. I am such an organiser! I have also just bought some new storage boxes. It is time to sort out my fabric cupboard again!

Good luck with your quilt, I think it will look just beautiful. The best thing about seeing all that fabric drying is thinking of ironing it all. Then you get to see each individual fabric really well and imagine it all sorts of ways. And when you’re finished it will be in all neat piles. (I love ironing – can you tell!!).

Crazy 4″ of course – I keep thinking I must be mad. I am busy choosing colour placement at this stage. Kirsty, who works with us one day a week is doing a Kaffe Fassett Dear Jane. I will take photos of her progress too! emma
