Linen for Melly and Me Patterns

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

I have been searching and searching for a resonably priced linen to make the Melly and me patterns. I have finally found a cotton linen mix for $20 p/mt. It is 137cms wide and I have got stock in a lovely cream and a slightly darker ecru. Perfect for “Little Kitty”, “Sangsang” and “Freya”.

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

Sorry for the lack of posts but I have been an extremely busy girl helping to organise a quilt exhibition. My quilt group, Ballaarat Quilters Inc, has a quilt exhibition every two years. This year we are having it at the Mining Exchange. It is a very spectacular location which definately shows all our quilts at their best. It is also open tomorrow, Sunday the 4th of November at the Mining Exchange, Lydiard St, Ballarat. 10am – 4pm. We also a have a lovely display from the Beaufort Cloth Doll Group, and 4 shops on site. I have taken a few photos of the space and also some of my favourite quilts! ENJOY

Scrappy Log Cabin

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

I have been wanting to create a beautiful quilt for my couch. My lounge room has chocolate brown couches and a lovely rich red rug. I fell in love with the Bohemian range of fabrics by Anna Maria Horner, and have been saving some of those fabrics waiting for a plan to come to me. I have never made a log cabin quilt, I have plenty of one off blocks but not a whole quilt. I absolutely am in love with this block and have been sewing like a crazy person trying to get all the other things finished so I can get sewing on this. I can’t wait to have it in my lounge room!

Strips and more Strips

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

I have always had a thing for strip quilts, especially the old vintage ones. So I decided it was time that I created some of these strippy quilts for myself. I have a very large box of Amy Butler scraps that were screaming out to be stripped. They are actually the off cuts when I cut the charm squares for the shop. I am always left with a 2″ x 10″ strip (approx), and I have heaps of them. So this project will be perfect for them.

Each block is an adventure, putting colours that go together or creating a really great clash. I have another 2 or 3 ideas for using strips so stay tuned.

A Talented Friend

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

I had to share with everyone a t-shirt I bought from Red Bubble. If you haven’t discovered this wonderful place please have a look! This wonderful design was created by my very talented friend Rebecca. I use to work with Rebecca in a textile design studio and I was always in awe of her work.

My Work Space

Monday, October 8th, 2007

I have finally put up my ikea shelves that I was in such a hurry to buy. My Dad came around and helped me as I had somehow managed to detroy my electric drill.  I think I may have over charged it…….. is that even possible? Well with the shelves up I was able to display some of my treasures, gathered material that has yet to be created into something, inspirational books and all that handy stuff for sewing. I hope you like my space!
