This past Saturday we had Kellie from Don’t Look Now, teaching her fabulous raw edge applique and free motion quilting class.

We wil be running some more classes with Kellie but
not until next year due to renovations on the class room
and back of the shop.

We recently held a class designed for girls 12 and over. We only had two join up which was fine by the tutor (my mum Pam) who wasn’t quite sure how to run the class.

We ended up doing 5 classes on a Thursday night after school. I think both Annie and Elizabeth enjoyed themselves. We will be running the same type of class next year if you know of any girls who might be interested.

Prints Charming Book Signing

I have just finished a new quilt, a scrappy nine patch. It is actually a queen size bed but as I am in a single at the moment, (well it was either the big bed or the sewing machine – guess which one I choose) I photographed it on that. Now my problem is…… what to call it.

So help me think of a name and if I choose yours you
can have my leftover blocks to get you started!

The lovely Kellie was teaching at Ballarat Patchwork last weekend, and I had such fun displaying all her quilts in our shop for the day.
It was the second day of a two day workshop, and I think all the
girls had a fabulous time!

We are lucky enough to have Kellie coming to teach this first term.
She is teaching Pretty in Pink and we have two dates for you to choose from.

If you haven’t seen Kellie’s work it is well worth dropping in for a look.
The detail is amazing.

We had a lovely class on the weekend with just two students in the class. Mum taught the Double Wedding Ring quilt. A very tricky quilt to piece.

Mum and I made some quick cushions using Prints Charmings paisley hand prints. I just stuck the coloured bits on and then free motion quilted it all. Mum did the backs using strips and the quilt as you go method of assembly.

Barb Matheson has been busy making our Blossom Creek Quilt designed by Natalie Ross. The very talented Elizabeth Zabinski of the Quiltworks machine quilted it beautifully.

I also started making the two little cuties from Melly and Me, Twitter. I got side tracked and Mum is finishing them for me. Isn’t she sweet!

I was searching on the internet tonight and found this. I had to have it. Made by Fancy Pants. Found on a site called buyolympia. I am amazed at the number of sites selling handmade goods. It is so fantastic.

We also have some new fabric including a great range
of Japanese quilt backs.

Some delicious new fabrics from lecien,
called flower sugar.

I have also put the 2nd term class list up on the web page. This quilt, King David’s Crown, was made by Michelle Yeo and will be taught on Saturday September 5th.

We are very lucky to have Maria Cook coming to Ballarat Patchwork to teach a lovely Christmas Block of the Month. There will be ten, 2 hr classes, with the first class starting on March the 1st.

The blocks are made using hand applique with a minimum of 10 blocks which will be mostly different trees. You will start with simple trees to begin with but can be made more complicated by embellishment or returned to later as you skills advance.
