Dick and Jane Challenge

We had such fun with our very first challenge that we have decided to make it a regular fixture.
The next challenge is to make an apron, either and adult’s or child’s or achild’s smock using the new
Dick and Jane fabric range by Michael Miller.
The prize is a Ballarat Patchwork gift voucher to the value of $50.

THE CHALLENGE:

• To create an original apron for an adult or a child, or a child’s smock made form Dick and Jane range of fabric designed by Michael Miller.
• Your entry should be made entirely (100%) from the Dick& Jane fabric range.

CONDITIONS:

• To enter, simply send an email to info@ballaratpatchwork.com.au and we will send a copy of the challenge.
• All entries must be received by November 30th, 2007.
• All entries must be delivered/posted to Ballarat Patchwork,
  54 Victoria Street Ballarat, Victoria 3350.
• All entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form.
• All entries must include a self addressed pre-paid post bag, to return item after judging.
• Photographs of all the entries will be posted on Scrap Bag for all to see!

JUDGING:

• The entries will be judged on compliance to the rules as explained above.
• Innovative and creative use of fabric.
• Quality of construction.

We have a winner………….. Thelma Wombwell. We just loved the attention to detail, large stitching and gorgeous little butterflies. This is a well designed and executed cushion. Congratulations to all of our entrants, the standard was fantastic.
All the cushions are in the shop now if you live nearby and would like a closer look. Now I just have to come up with a new challenge…… any suggestions?

We are still waiting on a couple on entries that have somehow got lost in the mail. We use Australia post for all our mailing and have never lost a parcel. (touch wood)  So fingers crossed the two missing cushions turn up at the shop soon and not on a postman’s couch.  So for anyone out there that didn’t make the deadline, we will give you a few extra days. We are planning to judge next week, so if you can get them to us by Tuesday the 11th of September you can still be included in the challenge!

All you lovely ladies who entered our Chocolate Lollipop Yo-Yo Cushion Challenge, it is time to get our entries to us! We have already recieved a few and they are fantastic. You are all very creative and inspiring. Well done. As soon as we recieve all the entries we will post all the cushions on the blog. Good luck!

Just thought I would post an update on the challenge. We have received three finished, beautiful and creative cushions so far! Hope you are all enjoying the challenge and will have it completed by the end of the month! Can’t wait to see them all!

Welcome to our first ever Scrap Bag Challenge,

First Prize Pack of Chocolate Lollipop Fabrics
29 x 20cms pieces. Total 5.8mts. Retail value $150

THE CHALLENGE:

• To create an original cushion made from the Chocolate Lollipop range of fabrics designed by Anna Maria Horner, and to also incorporate Yo-Yo’s into the design. (Click here for inspiration cushion-01)
• The cushion is to be made to fit a 16″ cushion insert.
• You should use at least 80% (can be 100% of course) of the Chocolate Lollipop range of fabrics, however for the cushion back any fabric can be used.
• We will provide one 6″ square of the Chocolate Lollipop range of fabrics for inspiration and a starting point.
• One entry form will be sent at this time too!
