Bits & Bobs

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011

I have a few photos of some work my customers have completed.
This first photo is of Daisy and her beautiful cushion, she did
have a bit of help from Mum but choose the fabrics all by herself!

Daisy and her cushion.

Kirsty sent me a lovely email and some photos of her work.

“I thought you might like these photos of a baby bib project I made using your mum’s pattern from the shop, and one of the designs from Kellie Wuhlfson’s Peak Hour quilt after I did one of her classes at the shop.  I bought the pattern and fabric pack about 6 months ago and am yet to start on the quilt itself, but have made lots of t-shirts, bibs and pillows with it – I will have used up most of the fabric by the time I start on the quilt!  It’s an incredibly versatile pattern, and the fabric pack is perfect.

Beautiful bibs – too good to use I think!

I also had a birthday present to make for a very mature 11 year old.
I made her some very bling cushions and bunting – with no pink as requested.
The fabrics I had already so it was a good use of the stash and the
trims were purchased at spotlight.

Lovely photo kids!

and on a quick note, my sewing machine repair man was
dropping off a machine this morning and told me he
has some 2nd hand Berninas for sale.
He has a couple Bernina Record 830′s for $400,
and a couple Bernina 801 models for $300.
These are fantastic basic machines and come with
a 12 month warranty. They are ex-school machines so
only come with one or two feet. However Bernina still
makes feet for these machines so you get easily get the rest.

Customer Show & Tell and more new things

The lovely Lucy popped in to show us her “Pickle”
“Pickle” is a pattern by the the talented Jodie from RicRac.
This pattern has been designed as an introduction to making softies,
and Lucy enjoyed making it so much she came to get more fabric to
make another one. The best bit……. Lucy is only 8!!

I got another treat today when Briony brought in her
finished Alphabet Soup Quilt.
The pattern for this quilt was designed by Kellie from Don’t Look Now.
I think she has done a pretty awesome job!

and the latest news…… we have some buttons.
They are from BasicGrey and are just stunning.

and I thought I would also share my new customer alarm.
Buffy sits up on the counter when there are no
customers in the shop just keeping an eye on things.
As soon as the door opens she bolts off out the back,
in the process scaring the hell out of me!

Buffy – “would you do some work and stop taking photos of me”

Two versions of the Mod Cot Quilt made by Dayle Stevens.

Aren’t they lovely! This is a great pattern for
beginners or just a quick quilt to make for a present.

Dayle has also sent a photo of her version of our
Optical Quilt.

I just love the colours in this quilt!

I was also sent another picture of our
Optical quilt sent in by Margaret Matthews
who saw this one at the Perth Craft Fair.

I love seeing other peoples interpretations
of our quilt patterns.

Please send us any pics you have and I will
put them up on the blog.
Thanks, emma

Jane’s Quilt

Thursday, August 4th, 2011

A lovely quilt came to visit us today.

Jane made this quilt using a Momo Wonderland layer cake.

and I’m pretty sure the pattern is from the
book “Layer Cake, Jelly Roll and Charm Quilts”
by Pam Lintott.
I should really write this stuff down…..
anyway I think it is a stunning quilt!

Linda’s Snowflake Medallion

Friday, June 17th, 2011

A couple of years ago lovely lady called Linda
sent me a photo of her version of our Snowflake Medallion quilt.
She is up to the quilting stage and I had to share some of the photos.

Isn’t the quilting amazing!!!

Jill’s Worry Dolls

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

Jill was kind enough to bring her finished Worry Dolls
quilt into the shop for me to see today.
She is just about to send it off for her
grand daughters 3rd birthday present,
what a lucky little girl.
Jill attended Kellie’s class
“Taking Applique Beyond The Turned Edge”
at Ballarat Patchwork a couple of months ago.
What a wonderful achievement! It looks fabulous!

Lovely emails

Tuesday, December 14th, 2010

Over the last couple of weeks I have received
some great photos of finished quilts from my customers.

This first quilt was made by Fiona for her Mum’s 80th Birthday.
The pattern is one of ours and is called Boyz Quilt.
It looks so completely different to our original but I love
that Fiona has only used one fabric in the square centers.
A great way to show off a feature fabric!

This next quilt is a version of our Nine Birds Quilt.
it was made by Alison who lives in Singapore,
so it has an international flavour.
Alison used  Denyse Schmidt’s Hope Valley fabric range.

She also mentioned that she appliqued the
birds the wrong way around and forgot to do the feet.

Well I still think it looks great!

This last quilt was made by Romaine, another version
of the Nine Birds quilt.
Very nice colours and I especially love the red.
This is Romaine’s first quilt – not bad at all.

Congratulations!

Update time

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

We have finally put together some packs for the Worry Doll quilt
designed by Kellie from Don’t Look Now.

We have put together and lovely range of brights for the clothes,
selection of hair colours,
fabrics for skin and the white for the background.

A lovely new range from Moda called Bliss.
A beautiful range of raspberry reds and fresh aquas.

I recently made a sample of Heather Bailey’s Happy Stacker Rings.
These were lots of fun to make, a little fiddly but the pattern
was very easy to understand.

New visitors to the shop – Izzy & Archie from Jodie.
Thanks also to Jodie who did the embroidery on Izzy’s dress.
Embroidery is not my strong point……..

A new Amy Butler sample of the Anna Tunic.
Can’t wait for summer to wear this one……
of course I got Sarah (my sample maker)
to make my size!!!!

More fabulous Knits from Michael Miller have just arrived!

Designer Felt, aren’t the colours stunning!

and thanks to June, for bringing in her version of Zara’s Hexagons.
I love this quilt!
