Kaffe Fassett in Ballarat

Thursday, February 24th, 2011

What a wonderful couple of days!
I can’t believe it’s over, two and a half  years in the planning.

On Tuesday we had the workshop where 30 ladies
created the stunning Tilt quilt with Kaffe and Brandon.

The workshop was held at the Mecure Ballarat Hotel,
in their large convention room.

Lots of room for the ladies to stand back
and really look at their quilts.
I think you can see Brandon in the background
in the photo above, I didn’t get a proper photo.
So sorry Brandon, we all had lots of fun
with you too!

I have to say a big thank you to Pam (my mum)
for not only helping me organise the whole
event but for making the best designs wall ever.
Mum spent quite a number of hours hand dying
white flannelette to be a shade of grey.
She produced a number of different shades
but Kaffe thought they were the best he had seen!
Not a white design wall in sight!

Look at those quilts, aren’t they stunning.
You look lovely too Karlie.

One of the best parts of the day was hearing
what Kaffe had to say about every one’s
designs at the end of the day.
Lots of hot oranges, soothing blues and pond scum green,
were just some of Kaffe’s wonderful words when
describing the colours in the quilts.

Below are all the quilts from the day.
I love all the different versions, so
beautiful to see how they all came together.

Then on Wednesday night we had the
slide show and book signing.
300 ladies came to see this fascinating
man talk about his life, his quilts, his inspiration
and lots lots more. Such an interesting evening.

So thank you to both Kaffe and Brandon
for coming to visit  Ballarat,
and reigniting my love for patchwork, design,
colour and fabric.

I also had to show you what Jen from Cake
made for Kaffe & Brandon.

Roman Glass Cupcakes!
You are a clever girl Jen,
and Kaffe & Brandon thought they were
delightful – just like fish eyes!

Kaffe Fassett is coming to town!

Thursday, February 17th, 2011

Less than a week to go and I’m getting excited!

We have sold out of lecture tickets, sorry to anyone who missed out.

I made a new handbag – The Marlo Bloom by Heather Bailey.
I even made it out of the same fabric on the cover.
Very easy, great instructions.

Also love love love the flower brooch.
How sweet!
