A Year in Quilts

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

I thought it might be nice to see what I have been working
on for the last 12 months and I was a bit shocked to find
that I hadn’t made as many quilts as I thought.

Then I remembered I made 2 Harlequin Stars Quilts and
also my new pickle dish quilt. These were very time consuming quilts!

The first Harlequin Stars quilt,
which was raffled and raised money for Vic Quilters.

My new nephew Angus got a quilt.

Noah’s quilt. I actually made two of these!
The original going to my friend’s baby
and the other for the shop.

Scrap Dots and Spots.
I still love this quilt and would like
to make another using different colours.

I even designed some cushions in 2011!

The 2nd Harlequin Stars Quilt.

Rainbow Circles.
A quilt I orginally designed for Quilters
Companion Magazine using a layer cake.

The pretty Poppy’s Quilt.
This ended up being the inspiration
for the Woodland Circles Quilt.

Pickled Orange Peel
The pattern for this quilt will be available
later in the year in Quilters Comapinion Magazine.

and finally Woodland Circles.

What a year!
Looking forward to 2012
and of course lots more quilts!!!

A Little Quilt I Have Been Working On….

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

I have spent the last to week madly sewing.
The quilt I have been working on is a Pickle Dish
made mainly out of Joel Dewberry fabrics.

I was asked by Claire Mooney from Quilters Companion
to design a quilt for a special edition of this magazine.
It is going to feature traditional quilts made from modern fabrics.
Release date is June 2012.

I have always wanted to make a pickle dish quilt so this
was the perfect opportunity.

First job was to cut all the triangles
for the pointed arc pieces.
I then foundation pieced these arcs.

That sure was alot of sewing!

Then I had to sew the blocks together.

This is the finished block.
Just had to sew it all together.

and the finished quilt,

Ta Da

any ideas for a name?

Noah’s Quilt

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

Back in May a friend of mine had a little baby boy and called him Noah.

Noah’s quilt isĀ  made from colours I just love
at the moment, red, aqua and gray.

I designed this quilt for him using our Funky Scrap Quilt as a start.

I have always loved this quilt and decided I would
make a cot version of it.

We have made up some packs using the same fabrics
as the original and you can check them out here.
