Look what Kellie left at the shop

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

Kellie, from Don’t Look Now, was at our shop last weekend teaching her raw edge applique technique. She always brings lots of her quilts to look at and accidentally left behind her Worry Dolls quilt. This quilt is just stunning and will be with us until she comes back on Saturday the 21st of August.

Feel free to come and visit on that saturday to have a good look at Kellie’s quilts.  Such stunning work it needs to be seen to be believed!

Updates a plenty

I have been busy putting new products on the web page after the ACQ.

The Nine Birds pattern is available now, however the packs for this quilt sold out very quickly but we are taking orders if you are interested. The packs are $120 and include all the fabric for the quilt top, binding and pattern.

Our Optical quilt was very popular too.
You can get the pattern here and the pack here.

How great are these colours for the optical pack!!!

I had a little competition a few posts ago to help name a new quilt. We ended up calling it “Bubble & Squeak”. Thanks so much to all the entries and congratulations to Lisa who suggested the name.

Boy’z Quilt production line…..

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

I think I have mentioned before that a few of my friends have had baby boys. I have now made 5 of these Boy’z Quilts, and these are the last 3.

I quilted these quilts all differently just to show you the different look.

More new stuff

Monday, March 8th, 2010

We have had some new patterns and kits new in store.

The lovely Novelty squares quilt made out of the Kokka Cotton/Linen fabrics. A really simple quilt but I think it showcases the fabrics beautifully. I just quilted this quilt using a walking foot.

Sneak peak of my new quilt

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

All in pieces still but you get the idea.

I have used the natural colour in the linen/cotton fabrics that we stock.
Makes for an interesting background and it is also fabulous to quilt.

Help me think of a name and win some blocks

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

I have just finished a new quilt, a scrappy nine patch. It is actually a queen size bed but as I am in a single at the moment, (well it was either the big bed or the sewing machine – guess which one I choose) I photographed it on that. Now my problem is…… what to call it.

9patch

So help me think of a name and if I choose yours you
can have my leftover blocks to get you started!

The lovely Kellie was teaching at Ballarat Patchwork last weekend, and I had such fun displaying all her quilts in our shop for the day.
It was the second day of a two day workshop, and I think all the
girls had a fabulous time!

A Quilt for ric-rac

Friday, February 5th, 2010

Well I have been telling you for quite some time that I have been working a secret project.

It is finally finished and off to live at it’s new house – Chez Ric-Ric.

This quilt was made with the wonderful help of all you fantastic bloggers out there. I collected the blocks – selvedge of course, then put them all together in a quilt to celebrate Jodie’s big birthday last year.

It was so much fun to make but alas, I didn’t take any photos because I was too excited to give it to the girl.

Lucky she just put a photo on her blog and I have just borrowed it.
Thanks Jodie

Finally finishing some things

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

Yep, been hitting the sewing machine hard this weekend and have been sewing up a storm. Finished quilting my Gran’s quilt, just got to put the binding on.

gran-01

I got the fabric for the back while I was away on our Sewjourn retreat, at the lovely shop called The Drapers of Mt Macedon. My Gran loves birds and I thought the colours suited perfectly.

I also pieced a new version of an old quilt of ours called Gingham Rose, in Amy Butler Fabrics. There are fabrics from a couple of Amy Butler’s range including Lotus, Midwest Modern and Daisy Chain. It’s a really simple pattern but it is still a favourite with me.

gingham-01

I think I might have a go at free-motion quilting on this one, maybe some big flowers, or loops…….

While I was going through my photos I found a pic of some cute little fishes made for us by Dale. They are made from the Melly & Me pattern Under the Sea.

And Mum has been busy again. She has finished a quilt top started many many years ago. The hexagons were made by Liz Dyer using our Japanese off cuts. This is actually the 2nd quilt we have made using Liz’s hexagons. The first is called “Japanese Garden”. Just got to quilt it now!
