Friday, July 17th, 2009

I’m so sorry for the lack of posts, just can’t seem to get well!!!!! Fingers crossed i’m on the mend and I can get back to sewing. I have been having very stong withdrawals from sewing and my fingers are itchy………. just need to get some energy back!

This beautiful book arrived this week and I can’t stop flicking through it. Great ideas, beautiful fabrics and stunning photography. “Seams to Me”, by Anna Maria Horner.

And Mum has been busy again. She has finished a quilt top started many many years ago. The hexagons were made by Liz Dyer using our Japanese off cuts. This is actually the 2nd quilt we have made using Liz’s hexagons. The first is called “Japanese Garden”. Just got to quilt it now!

Prints Charming Hand Prints

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

We were lucky enough to recieve some Prints Charming fabrics in the post yesterday. They will be great for patches, pin cushions, decorations, quilts, cushions and the list goes on. Love that they are printed on the linen/cotton fabric and also the colours. I am heading off this weekend to Sewjourn, with some creative ladies. I will be taking lots of the new Prints Charming fabric to play with and come up with some great ideas on how to use it!

Yes I finally gave Mrs Perkins some eyes.
She is now quite happy sitting down the
front of the shop keeping an eye on everything.

I have also made some other little fellows.

sheep
These guys are made using the Melly and Me pattern,
Black Sheep, White Sheep.

These two will be going to my God Son for a
belated birthday but I have another two cut out.
I actually have the original fabric that Melly and Me used in store.

I also made Rudy and once again I had all the same
fabrics as used in the original.
This has never happened before so I am very excited.

Lots of new stuff too. Japanese fabrics, black and whites
and just lots of  yummy materials.

Once again the Ladies of Ballaarat Quilters have come through with the goods, being my template testers and sample makers. These are another two blocks from Victorian Textiles.

Hexagon Slices

This sample block was made by Sonya, who has just recently started her own blog and she wrote a lovely review I just had to post it. Hope you don’t mind Sonya.

Wow, these look great. I have finished mine too, called Hexagon Slices – I’ll bring it in on Tuesday. The template set was really impressive – not only accurate (which you’d expect), but included enough shapes for three different arrangements, and the ‘filler’ triangle shape too, so you can have the hexagons set in, or on point. That is something many sets don’t allow for.Very cool. Plus, I had fun trying a new block shape and lovely fabrics. Thanks :o )

Journal Secrets and some Brighter Memories

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

We have a lovely new pattern that i just couldn’t resist making. I am always doodling in books, scraps of paper, anything I can get my hands on when a creative urge takes over. So I thought I would make a nice place to put all these ideas and this pattern for Journal Covers from Janelle Wind was perfect.

I used the same orange spot fabric that Janelle used and we have lots more if you like the look of this! I also used some yo-yo’s for the flower centers, and some soon to bought buttons for the middle. Anyone got any suggestions as to what colour buttons?

My mother has been busy sewing a much brighter and lighter version of the Memories of Japan Quilt. I just love white sashing! Just got to quilt the rather large thing. I’m thinking just some simple crossed hatching with my walking foot.

Pretty Pippi

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

One of my lovely customers made me a very beautiful version of Pippi, the Melly & Me horse. I just love the fabric she is made out of, one from Anna Maria Horner’s Garden Party range, and the yellow main just sets it off! Pippi will be a shop sample so feel free to come and say hi.  She likes apples and carrots.
Thanks again Susie for making this gorgeous little horse!
